Throughout my college career, I was involved in various on-campus experiences and organizations.
During the Spring of 2015, I was accepted into Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society, which recognizes students in the top 1/3 of their major(s) with a GPA greater than a 3.5. During my second year at Western Carolina University, I was also inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta Honor’s Society and the Honors College.
In the Fall of 2016, I enrolled in a Strategic Management course which provided students with actual companies seeking help with their businesses. My group provided a strategic marketing plan to help our client retain current customers while obtaining new customers. We provided an outline of new strategies using social media, revitalizing current marketing strategies, developing radio ads, and providing other useful information.
During my junior year, I obtained an apprenticeship with the Marketing & Promotions Department at Western Carolina University. This allowed me to gain hands-on experience during the 2014-2015 football and basketball seasons.
I have experience preparing marketing research portfolios. In a Sport Marketing class, my group members and I provided marketing data for the Athletics Department focusing on Catamount Football.
In an Event Management & Planning course, the class put on the Mountain Heritage 5k & Fun Run. I was involved in the sponsorship group that brought in revenue and in-kind donations. A portion of the proceeds that we brought in went towards a scholarship fund that would help students within the Sport Management major.
Western Carolina University has an on campus radio station, Cullowhee’s Classic Rock Station Power 90.5. I was involved as a color commentator on Friday nights.
During a Social Media Management course, I had the opportunity to become Hootsuite certified.
TV Production helped me understand the daily operations of a TV studio. I was honored to be elected by my peers to direct a segment and be the technical director for another.
